BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Bristol Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities is selling granite bricks to help area youth.
Starting Friday, the public can purchase a Bristol Walk of Fame paver, a 12-by-12 inch, black or white granite brick that can have a two-line, 32-character message for $199.
Claudia Byrd of the charities’ Bristol Chapter, said the organization helped 73 not-for-profit youth organizations last year, including local Boys and Girls Clubs, Girls Incorporated and various children’s advocacy centers.
"We gave away $450,000, but we had almost $1 million requested," she said. "Our goal is to one day meet all those needs."
The granite bricks will be placed at the Speedway’s main entrance. When the pavers are placed, buyers receive an e-mail with the exact location of the brick on the Bristol Walk of Fame.
Up to $149 of proceeds will benefit the charity and each purchase is tax deductible.
Granite bricks sales will be at the Bruton Smith Building at BMS with either cash, check or most major credit card payment. Order forms are on the speedway’s Web site, www.bristolmotorspeedway.com or fax (423) 989-6964.
