VCEDA approves $16.3
million for development projects in three Southwest
Virginia counties

The Virginia
Coalfield Economic Development Authority on Thursday approved $16.3 million for
development projects in three Southwest Virginia
counties.
The money will pay
for a variety of projects such as a new technology and data centers, equipment
for a wood manufacturing company, and development of a multi-use industrial
park, according to a news release.
The Wise County
Industrial Development Authority will receive the most money, more than $6.5
million, which will be used for an information assurance technology center,
equipment for a start-up wood manufacturer company, and the development of
available space at Lonesome Pine Regional Business and Technology Park.
The Dickenson County
Industrial Development Authority will receive a $4 million grant to build a
technology center for work force development and training programs for the
coal, gas, and energy industries.
Another $5.7 million
will go to Buchanan
County to assist with
development of the Lovers Gap/Poplar regional industrial park.
